What are some best practices for designing an API for a mobile app in order to ensure that it is functional, reliable, easy to use for developers, and secure in terms of protecting sensitive data and preventing unauthorized access?

Number one is to focus on creating an API that is functional, reliable, easy to use for developers, and secure in terms of protecting sensitive data and preventing unauthorized access. Using a consistent and intuitive design and providing support and documentation would also be on top of my list.

Best practices for designing an API for a mobile app include defining your purpose and intended audience, using a clear and consistent naming convention, using HTTP status codes, implementing authentication methods, providing detailed documentation, testing the API thoroughly, monitoring for performance issues, implementing rate limiting, and regularly updating and deprecating outdated features.
