Introduction Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to another Nacho Tuesday. Today, we have Roland from Arrow AI with us. Roland, could you introduce your product and tell us a bit about what you do? Roland’s Introduction Thanks for having me, Andy. It’s great to be here. I’m Roland, the CEO and Founder of Arrow AI. The value proposition is straightforward: if you’re not posting on your business's social media profiles every day, it’s like you don’t exist. However, managing social media can be extremely time-consuming. That’s where Arrow AI comes in. We combine artificial intelligence with a team of social media experts to handle daily postings on your behalf, creating engaging content so you can focus on running your business. Background and Career Journey Absolutely. My first entrepreneurial experience was in ninth grade. I used to skateboard to school and stop by a donut shop to buy a dozen donuts for eight dollars, which I would then sell for two dollars each. That was my initial foray into making money. After that, I went into brand management, working with Corona Brands here in California. I managed various marketing functions before transitioning into digital marketing. I’ve sold technology to major companies like Disney and Microsoft and managed significant budgets. Despite this, my true passion has always been with small business owners. After exiting my last company, I focused entirely on the small business community, particularly in social media. Social Media Trends and AI Social media trends have evolved significantly. Initially, the focus was on content creation and driving traffic to websites. This shifted to real-time, data-driven processes involving digital media buying. Now, it’s come full circle back to content. Businesses, especially local ones, rely heavily on platforms like Facebook and Instagram for visibility and local discovery. Small businesses need to consistently post content to stay relevant. While big brands engage in extensive data-driven media buying, small businesses benefit from daily posts to showcase what they do and sell. Tips for Small Business Owners For small business owners looking to succeed on social media, consistency is key. It’s important to use tools like Arrow AI to get started. Our plan is affordable, at $29 a month, and helps you post content regularly. Two key tips: use a tool like Arrow AI to streamline the process, and consistently post content, even if you don’t see immediate results. Over time, daily posting—such as sharing business quotes or inspirational content—will enhance visibility and impact. Consistency over three to four months will yield noticeable benefits. Success Stories We have several success stories from our clients. For instance, Valerie, who runs a coaching and wellness business, signed up for Arrow AI and saw over 200 engagements on her first LinkedIn post after a year and a half of inactivity. Another example is The Louver Shop, which experienced a 400% increase in engagement across its 43 locations after using Arrow AI. These results highlight the significant impact consistent social media posting can have on business performance. Using Arrow AI Arrow AI is unique because, while we are primarily an AI company, we also employ social media experts. This combination ensures that every social media post is polished and professional. To get started, you sign up on our website, go through a few onboarding screens, and have a brief onboarding call. Within 24 hours, Arrow AI begins posting for you. We aim to be the anti-platform platform, offering a tailored, high-quality service that emphasizes perfect social media representation for your business. Platform Accessibility At Arrow AI, we prioritize user convenience. You don't need to log into our platform; instead, you can communicate with us via email, text, or our chatbot. You can even upload pictures and request specific posts, such as updates about recent jobs. We aim to meet users exactly where they are—whether in their cars, businesses, or on their mobile phones—making interactions with Arrow as seamless and conversational as possible. Content Creation Tips When it comes to making content stand out, authenticity is key. Share real stories about your business—whether it’s about how you started, your background, or unique aspects of your journey. Being genuine helps create a connection with your audience. Additionally, don’t be afraid to push your comfort zone. Social media is a platform where you can blend professionalism with a touch of personality. Using a service like Arrow AI, which combines AI with human oversight, can significantly ease the process of content creation and ensure quality while you focus on other business aspects. Underrated Social Media Platforms One often-overlooked platform is Pinterest, which has around 380 million monthly users. It's especially useful for businesses with products to showcase. Facebook and Instagram continue to be crucial platforms, but don't forget about your Google Business Profile. Posting on this platform can enhance your local SEO and have an immediate impact on your business's discoverability. For local businesses, such as restaurants, a strong Google Business Profile can be vital for attracting customers. Importance of Regular Updates In today’s world, maintaining an active social media presence is crucial for credibility. Many consumers check social media to verify if a business is still operational. If a business hasn’t posted in several months, potential customers might assume it has closed. Regular updates can reassure customers that your business is active and thriving, helping you stand out from competitors. Managing Social Media and AI Balancing social media management with other responsibilities can be challenging. Using tools like Arrow AI allows you to automate routine tasks, freeing up time for high-value activities like engaging with new customers. While AI handles much of the content posting, it’s important to retain a human touch for quality assurance. Our social media experts review every post to ensure it aligns with your brand’s voice and maintains high standards. Future of AI in Social Media As AI technology evolves, it’s crucial to implement it thoughtfully. At Arrow AI, we blend AI with human expertise to ensure that automation enhances, rather than replaces, the human element. We’re transitioning towards more AI-driven processes, aiming for 95% or more automation in the coming months. However, we continue to prioritize the human touch to maintain the quality and effectiveness of our service. AI Tools and Business Management Quality is crucial, and while AI tools can be exciting and useful, they’re not a complete replacement for human oversight. Automating everything without considering the nuances of your business isn’t always the best approach. It’s important to strike a balance where AI supports rather than replaces human judgment. Overlooked B2B Channels When discussing overlooked B2B channels, TikTok is one that has recently gained attention. While it’s a newer platform, it’s proving to be impactful. Additionally, Pinterest, which we mentioned earlier, is still underutilized despite having a significant user base. Another important but often neglected channel is LinkedIn, particularly personal profiles. Many professionals focus solely on their company’s LinkedIn page and overlook the potential of their personal profiles. Posting about your values and interests can help build a personal connection with your audience. The Importance of Personal Branding Personal branding is crucial, especially for business owners and startup founders. For example, restaurant owners in New York City often succeed because they are actively engaged in their communities and maintain dynamic social media profiles. However, this level of engagement is not universally observed. Many small business owners, particularly in other cities, do not leverage their personal profiles effectively. Building a strong personal brand can enhance your business’s visibility and credibility. Startup Dynamics In the startup world, founders often embody the business's brand and reputation in the early years. It can take time to establish the company’s identity, so personal branding remains critical. This dynamic is similar in various industries, such as the restaurant sector, where personal engagement can significantly impact success. Food Culture and Community Engagement Food scenes vary greatly by city, but the trend towards local and community-focused businesses is strong. For example, while San Francisco boasts a vibrant food scene, other cities like Portland also have notable local food cultures. The emphasis on local businesses reflects a broader trend of community engagement, which is relevant to both food and other sectors. Social Media Engagement Engaging on social media doesn’t always require posting original content. Liking and commenting on others' posts can be an effective way to participate in conversations and build relationships. It’s a more organic approach compared to cold messaging and can foster genuine connections. AI and Social Media Strategy At Arrow AI, we combine AI technology with human expertise to ensure quality and authenticity in social media management. This approach stems from a background in advertising, where the focus was on targeted ads and audience data. Arrow AI aims to return to basics by creating impactful posts while assisting businesses with social media management. Focus on SMBs There is a significant untapped market among small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Many SMB owners, like the example of a busy pizza restaurant owner, juggle multiple roles and lack the time for comprehensive social media management. Tools like Arrow AI can alleviate some of this burden and provide valuable support. Market Trends and Freelancers Microbusinesses and freelancers are a growing segment of the economy. In 2027, it’s expected that there will be more freelancers than traditional W-2 employees in the U.S. This shift highlights the importance of personal branding for freelancers and the expanding market for tools that support them. Fractional Executive Roles The rise of fractional executive roles is another trend that complements the growth of freelancing. Companies are increasingly hiring fractional executives to meet their needs, reflecting a broader trend toward flexible work arrangements. Early Stage Challenges Starting a company involves numerous challenges, and even with 20 years of experience, obstacles persist. At Arrow AI, we continue to navigate these challenges while striving to advance and refine our services. Starting a Business Starting a business is always an incredible opportunity and incredibly exciting. Our core focus is technology, and that’s where our core competency lies. However, our biggest challenge began right after we launched the company in January 2020. Just three months later, the entire country went into lockdown. Building a remote company was part of our initial plan, but we had no choice but to adapt quickly to remote operations. Challenges of Remote Work Building a remote company presented numerous challenges, such as creating and maintaining company culture, developing products remotely, and establishing effective internal feedback loops. These aspects were particularly difficult, and even now, we’re still working on improving them. For instance, we recently discussed with one of the co-founders, Jason, the need for more user feedback. Whether through calls or emails, gathering feedback is crucial for refining our products. Handling Problems and Failures For executives and leaders facing problems or setbacks, there are two key pieces of advice. First, early success is critical. Very few companies achieve an IPO, and those that do are often intensely focused on that goal from the beginning. If IPO is your target, every decision—from choosing advisors to funding—should align with that objective. However, if your goals differ, such as creating a business with strong cash flow, be clear about your desired outcome to make the right decisions. Second, build a support system. Let your family and friends know what to expect in terms of time commitment and the challenges ahead. Having a clear vision and understanding the realities of startup life will help you navigate the journey more effectively. Vision and Execution Having a clear vision is essential, but it’s also important to focus on the small steps required to achieve it. Making well-calculated decisions about advisors and team members is crucial. My experience with taking a company public in 2018 taught me the importance of aligning every decision with your long-term goals. While an IPO can be rewarding, it’s not for everyone, so choose the path that suits your vision and find the right investors to support it. Lifestyle Businesses and Flexibility A lifestyle business can be equally valuable as a high-growth venture. Some entrepreneurs prefer steady cash flow and the freedom to run their business from anywhere. You can manage your business while traveling or living in different locations. The flexibility available today allows entrepreneurs to operate from diverse places, such as the Jersey Shore or Bali. Utilizing Reddit An often-overlooked platform for entrepreneurs is Reddit. It remains one of the few places on the internet where anonymity allows for genuine, unfiltered discussions. Entrepreneurs share real stories about growing their companies, providing valuable insights. For those interested, I can share some of my favorite Reddit channels. Partnership and Future Outlook I appreciate the opportunity to discuss these topics today. Exciting times lie ahead for our company, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.
