Contrarian Design
Quotations
It was fantastic to work together with Brian at IBM, who is an exceptional designer. Brian is an organized and user-oriented designer. Brian showed a high level of leadership, design, problem solving technical skills and was a valuable contributor to our teams and products. No matter how complex the problem is, he will always come up with brilliant, elegant, user-driven, and viable solutions. He is a trustworthy professional and I will always hold him in the highest esteem.
When working with designers, I tend to see two types. One that has excellent visual design skills but proves to be challenging to work with. They are aware of their “price on the market,” so they think their attitude is warranted. The other type has a much better vibe, but their craft is not as refined. I prefer this type as you can teach skills but not personality.
With Brian however, you don’t have to choose. You get the craftmanship and the positive -and challenging when needed- attitude. After 20+ years in the industry, I count Brian to the group of ~ ten designers I place in that unicorn mix. I’d recommend Brian to everyone, but I want to keep him to myself!
I had the pleasure of working with Brian for 11 consecutive weeks, where he conducted competitor research and benchmarking, followed by wireframing, interface design and prototyping for a fintech client. Brian proved to be a fantastic team player, problem-solver and interface designer. What I particularly liked about working with Brian was his can-do attitude, his smart ideas and drive to iterate and finesse to reach the best possible solution. In addition to being a highly skilled designer, he is empathetic, diplomatic, conscientious and a dream to work with. I hope I get the opportunity to collaborate with him again soon.
